Sustainability program - Singapore students

YMCA Visit to TGS Organic Farming Project

Good morning everyone, and welcome to TGS Cambodia. Today, we are delighted to host 21 university students from YMCA to learn about our organic farming and sustainability initiatives.

Our program begins with a brief introduction to TGS and our mission of promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. Students will then observe a live biochar demonstration and learn how biochar can improve soil health while reducing agricultural waste.

Next, participants will be divided into three groups for hands-on activities: making FFJ organic fertilizer, preparing vegetable compost, and learning how to mix healthy soil for crop production.

Following this, everyone will enjoy a cooking demonstration using fresh vegetables from the community garden and have the opportunity to taste the results.

After the cooking demonstration , students will apply a biochar and cow manure mixture to the community garden land, experiencing practical soil improvement techniques firsthand.

The visit concludes with a lunch fellowship, reflection, and a deeper understanding of how sustainable farming can contribute to food security, environmental care, and community development.
